Asteroids are the rocky object which orbit the sun, and due to their small size they are not called as Planets. they may also be called as small or minor planets. there are a large number of asteroids present in our solar system in millions. mostly of them are found in the asteroid belt- which is the region between Mars and Jupiter, not only in the asteroid belt these also orbit the planets and some asteroids are having the same path with the planets. which increases the chances of hitting the planets.
